A Thorough Update

Good Morning All,
Thursday morning and Myles and I don't have anywhere to go today!!!! The week has been so hectic with appointments that I am actually very happy to not have any today. Maybe I can start my vegetable garden or fertilize my fields (wow, I didn't think that I would be doing that this year). I wanted to give everyone an update on buggies status. We had an ultrasound done last week to check on his blood clots in his legs. The clots are still there but they said that they looked "old" (just like me!). I assume that they meant that they are stabilizing and being incorporated into his body. We have taken him off the dreaded Lovenox shots that we were giving him every morning and night and have put him on oral meds for the blood thinner (Warafin). That's the reason that we have been having to go for so many blood draws as it is hard to get the dosing right. Myles, Aaron, and I have NOOOOOOOO PROBLEM with the blood draws as he still has a pic line in but those shots were painful for everybody, Myles getting them and Aaron and I for giving them to him (Thank you Dr. Johnston). He is still receiving factor every day to combat the blood thinners, can you believe it. His grafts are healing with no open wounds (and starting to scar) on his stomach and back except for the grafts on his right arm. He still has open wounds and has yet to be able to wear any pressure garments on that arm. They checked his range of motion at the physical therapist and he has really good range on his right arm and fairly good range on the left. His hands are looking great (Dr. Cochran, you did a fabulous job) except the little finger on his left hand has gone into contracture (bent and can't straighten). We are going to really work on this finger during rehab to see if there is a way to straighten it without surgery. When the therapist asked Myles what the most important thing that he wants to do again, he said "GOLF". Aaron and him tried swinging a club last weekend and Myles got really sad that he "lost his groove". I try and use this to force him to work hard during therapy by telling him that he will get it back or even better than before (mom tricks). Aaron, Tuyet (our little angel) and I all work together to get through his bandage changes (I think that they should make that a bad word or something) as his skin is still so sensitve to cold, heat, water, etc. As far as his donor sites.........the blistering has slowed down but the itching has NOT.......
Well I guess that this is enough FYI for one posting. I again can not find the words to thank everyone for their love and prayers through all this, just know until I figure out a way to express it. Love to you all. Sherry

God Gets Into Our Lives
Thursday, April 12, 2007

I do not live anymore – it is Christ who lives in me.
Galatians 2:20

You have leaves to rake. A steering wheel to grip. A neighbor’s hand to shake. Simply put you have things to do.

So does God. Babies need hugs. Children need good-night tucks. AIDS orphans need homes. Stressed-out executives need hope. God has work to do. And he uses our hands to do it.
What the hand is to the glove, the Spirit is to the Christian….God gets into us. At times, imperceptibly. Other times, disruptively. God gets his fingers into our lives, inch by inch reclaiming the territory that is rightfully his.
Your tongue. He claims it for his message.
Your feet. He requisitions them for his purpose.
Your mind? He made it and intends to use it for his glory.
Your eyes, face, and hands? Through them he will weep, smile, and touch.

Sherry,

Thank you so much for the update . . . I will forward it to all!

God has big plans for you Myles . . . and I'm sure those plans include Golf. So I will continue to pray for God's healing grace, and especially for your hands , , ,!!!

Much Much love,

Hello Everyone
Myles, do not get frustrated if you don't have the swing you had before the fire. Good things will come to those who wait. Those wonderful PT's will get you in the Swing of things soon. We will continue to pray that not only you heal physically, mentally, but also to play golf like you used to if not better.

We love you all,
Cecelia

Hello all!
I am so glad to hear you got somewhat of a break today. I hope you were all able to relax some, and just enjoy being at home with each other. Thank you for keeping the posts going. I especially love the pictures, and seeing Myles' smiling face! Jenna told me she talked to you today, she was SO EXCITED! Hopefully she can join the "party" next month. So many cousins, aunts, uncles! It's truly amazing! And in case you haven't heard it enough today, you all continue to do an amazing job through all of this.
Keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers...

A Good Choice
Friday, April 13, 2007

Let us come near to God with a sincere heart and a sure faith.
Hebrews 10:22

It would have been nice if God had let us order life like we order a meal. I’ll take good health and a high IQ. I’ll pass on the music skills, but give me a fast metabolism…Would’ve been nice. But it didn’t happen. When it came to your life on earth, you weren’t given a voice or a vote.

But when it comes to life after death, you were. In my book that seem like a good deal. Wouldn’t you agree?...

Have we been given any greater privilege than that of choice? Not only does this privilege offset any injustice, the gift of free will can offset any mistakes.

You’ve made some bad choices in life, haven’t you? You’ve chosen the wrong friends, maybe the wrong career, even the wrong spouse. You look back over your life and say, “If only…if only I could make up for those bad choices.” You can. One good choice for eternity offsets a thousand bad ones on earth.

The choice in yours.

'Hey Myles . . .it's FRIDAY . . .THE 13TH!!! I know it's going to be a good day! Enjoy it . . .in spite of what ever anyone tells you!

You're loved!

It’s Up to You

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.” Revelation 3:20 KJV

Perhaps you’ve seen Holman Hunt’s painting of Jesus. Stone archway…ivy-covered bricks…Jesus standing before a heavy wooden door.

It was in a Bible I often held as a young boy. Beneath the painting were the words, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him.”

Years later I read about a surprise in the painting. Holmann Hunt had intentionally left out something that only the most careful eye would note as missing. I had not noticed it. When I was told about it I went back and looked. Sure enough, it wasn’t there. There was no doorknob on the door. It could be opened only from the inside….

God come to your house, steps up to the door, and knocks. But it’s up to you to let him in.

Myles, Hope all is good. I ran in another race this morning, soon I think a lot of runners in Northern Virginia are going to know who "Myles" is. It's not about running miles . . . it's about running for Myles! Keep working hard . .. my thoughts and prayers, as always, are with you and the rest of your family.

Much Love, Aunt K8, Uncle Dwayne, Scott and Kaitlin
