Myles had the pin and stitches removed from his finger this morning. The wound Dr in Boise spoke with the Dr in Salt Lake and decided that he would remove it and save us the trip. Aaron went with us as Myles' anxiety was running a little high and Aaron is good at keeping him calm. We kept telling him that it was going to be a "piece of cake", I guess we forgot the past for a second. Even the Dr. told buggies that the pin was going to slide right out, well it didn't, at least not easily. Three tries, lots of pulling and holding Myles' hand for resistance, it finally released from the bone. With him growing so much right now we think that the bone kind of grew around the pin. When the Dr. said that he has never seen one so difficult to remove, Aaron and I both smiled. Good ole' buggies keeps everyones life exciting. At least we got to keep the pin. The stitches were a little tough also. The were put in like sewing a hem in a dress, one continuous stitch. Not all of the graft took around the edges (right where the stitches were) so upon removing the stitches the dead graft came off at the same time. Yikes! He has a couple of deep holes but we are hoping over time that they fill in. This procedure was quite painful for him (even with some meds) and Aaron and I had to take back our "piece of cake" statement. I'm not sure about when therapy will start and am still waiting for an answer from SLC. He is sleeping right now..................

You Belong to Him

“The love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 5:5 NKJV
Deep within you, God’s Spirit confirms with your spirit that you belong to him. Beneath the vitals of the heart, God’s Spirit whispers. “You are mine. I bought you and sealed you, and no one can take you.” The Spirit offers an inward, comforting witness.
He is like a father who walks hand in hand with his little child. The child knows he belongs to his daddy, his small hand happily lost in the large one. He feels no uncertainty about his papa’s love. But suddenly the father, moved by some impulse, swings his boy up into the air and into his arms and says, “I love you, Son.”…
Has the relationship between the two changed? On one level, no. The father is no more the father than he was before the expression of love. But on a deeper level, yes. The dad drenched, showered, and saturated the boy in love. God’s Spirit does the same with us…The Holy Spirit pours the love of God in our hearts.
WOW, God bless you Myles. You're a warrior that is for sure. I will continue to pray that God fills you with the courage and strength that you need to heal, and to get through your therapy. God is good.
You all are loved,

He Took Our Place

“Christ…changed places with us and put himself under that curse.”
Galatians 3:13
While on the cross, Jesus felt the indignity and disgrace of a criminal. No, he was not guilty. No, he had not committed a sin. And, no, he did not deserve to be sentenced. But you and I were, we had, and we did. We were left with nothing to offer but a prayer…
“He changed places with us.” He wore our sin so we could wear his righteousness.
Though we come to the cross dressed in sin, we leave the cross dressed in the “coat of his strong love” (Isa. 59:17) and girded with a belt of “goodness and fairness” (Isa. 11:5) and clothed in “garments of salvation” (Isa 61:10 NIV).
Indeed, we leave dressed in Christ himself. “You have all put on Christ as a garment” (Gal. 3:27 NEB).
Good morning all! Myles, I hope that the pin being removed has provided you some comfort, and you can begin your physical therapy. Sherry, I hope you've gotten some well deserved rest. Aaron, YOU TOO! hope all is well, and you all know that you continue to be held in our prayers,
Much love,
Kate

It Defies Logic
Friday, August 10, 2007
“Here is my servant whom I have chosen. I love him and I am pleased with him.”
Matthew 12:18
Those who saw Jesus—really saw him—knew there was something different. At his touch blind beggars saw. At his command crippled legs walked. At his embrace empty lives filled with vision.
He fed thousands with one basket. He stilled a storm with one command. He raised the dead with one proclamation. He changed lives with one request. He rerouted the history of the world with one life, lived in one country, was in born in one manger, and died on one hill…
God did what we wouldn’t dare dream. He did what we couldn’t imagine. He became a man so we could trust him. He became a sacrifice so we could know him. And he defeated death so we could follow him.
It defies logic. It is a divine insanity. A holy incredibility.
Only a Creator beyond the fence of logic could offer such a gift of love.
To all . . .true love is awesome isn't it! Leaving for the beach in the morning. IF I can get a connection, I will continue to check in! These devotions are just as important for me. What a great way to start a day.
You are loved, and continually prayed for.
