Our Crash Course in Life Continues
Isn't it amazing how we do not truly appreciate the times in our life when not a lot is going on. We think that life is kind of boring with the same old thing over and over again. God only knows how much I wish that was our life right now. Tuyet's (our angel) father, who is 70, was making a herbal vapor for his allergies on Monday when it tipped over on him. The boiling water spilled in his lap and he received second and third degree burns on his lower extremities. Boo flew down there Tuesday morning to be with her father and family. They are planning the graft surgery for Friday but with his age and thin skin, it will be a difficult procedure. I hope there will be a day soon that when someone asks us "what is new" we will say "NOTHING!!!!". This has been the most unbelievable five months I have ever experienced. I know that good will rise from all of this, as it already has, but a break of about five years or more would be nice. Please send some prayers to Tuyet's dad as all of your prayers have always been truly miracles. Tuyet is part of our family and has stayed by our side through all of this. I am amazed at our continued strength through these lessons in life.

The challenges that have recently befallen your home-family are very overwhelming to witness- even secondhand. I will continue to pray and pray. Hugs and kisses to you all.

Boo,
I am sad to hear that your father has to go through this ordeal. I will keep him in my prays as well as your family.
Sherry, I will pray too that nothing new but good news will come your way.

What Love Does

“Christ Jesus…did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant.”
Philippians 2:5-7 NIV
Would you do what Jesus did? He swapped a spotless castle for a grimy stable. He exchanged the worship of angels for the company of killers. He could hold the universe in his palm but gave it up to float in the womb of a maiden.
If you were God, would you sleep on straw, nurse from a breast, and be clothed in a diaper? I wouldn’t, but Christ did.
If you knew that only a few would care that you came, would you still come? If you knew that those you loved would laugh in your face, would you still care?...Christ did.
He humbled himself. He went from commanding angels to sleeping in the straw. From holding stars to clutching Mary’s finger. The palm that held the universe took the nail of a soldier.
Why? Because that’s what love does. It puts the beloved before itself.
WOW,
What one must endure. I will continue to pray for all of you AND Tuyet's family. Sorry I didn't send a note yesterday. It was Kaitlin's birthday . . .she's 17 (ouch!) Where does the time go. It's crazy . . . she was born on a wednesday! It was a beautiful day, so Kaitlin had a great day. The kids at school decorated her car, it was a riot. She's got great, great friends, they too are a blessing.
My love to all!

Don’t Give Up!

“It is finished.”
John 19:30
Our inability to finish what we start is seen in the smallest of things: A partly mowed lawn. A half-read book.
Or, it shows up in life’s most painful areas: An abandoned child. A wrecked marriage.
Any chance I’m addressing someone who is considering giving up? If I am, I want to encourage you to remain. I want to encourage you to remember Jesus’ determination on the cross.
Jesus didn’t quit. But don’t think for one minute that he wasn’t tempted to. Did he ever want to quit? You bet.
That’s why his words are so splendid. “It is finished.”
Hey everybody! Hope all is well. It's HOT HOT HOT here today, almost 100 degrees! I love spring and fall, NOT crazy about HOT summers, hope this is just a one day thing. Keep the faith!

The God You Need
Monday, June 11, 2007
“The LORD created the heavens. He is the God who formed the earth and made it.”
Isaiah 45:18
You don’t need what Dorothy found. Remember her discovery in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz? She and her trio followed the yellow-brick road only to discover that the wizard was a wimp! Nothing but smoke and mirrors and tin-drum thunder. Is that the kind of god you need?
You don’t need to carry the burden of a lesser god…a god on a shelf, a god in a box, or a god in a bottle. No, you need a God who can place 100 billion stars in our galaxy and 100 billion galaxies in the universe. You need a God who can shape two fists of flesh into 75 to 100 billion nerve cells, each with as many as 10,00- connections to other nerve cells, place it in a skull, and call it a brain.
And you need a God who, while so mind-numbingly mighty, can come in the soft of night and touch you with the tenderness of an April snow.
Hope all is well with all of you, and all extentions of the family. I continue to hold you all in my prayers. Hope Tuyet's father is doing well, and can feel God's hand and his healing grace.
Much love continues for all . . .
