Floating the Boise River

Myles, Dave, and I floated the Boise River yesterday for a couple of hours. The weather was hot (99 degrees) and the water was freezing cold! Keeping up with these two boys will either keep me young or make me old real fast.

What Worship Does
Tuesday, July 22, 2008
“You who fear the LORD, praise Him!”
Psalm 22:23 NKJV

Worship humbles the smug and lifts the deflated.

Worship adjusts us, lowering the chin of the haughty, straightening the back of the burdened.

Worship properly positions the worshiper. And oh how we need it! We walk through life so bent out of shape. Five-talent folks swaggering: “I bet God’s glad to have me.” Two-talent folks struggling: “I bet God’s sick of putting up with me.” So sold on ourselves that we think someone died and made us ruler. Or so down on ourselves that we think everyone died and just left us.

Treat both conditions with worship.

I think the boys will keep you YOUNG!! What fun, wish I was there!! Much love and continued prayers!! K8

Just Be There

“The person who shows mercy can stand without fear at the judgment.”
James 2:13

Nothing takes the place of your presence. Letters are nice. Phone calls are special, but being there in the flesh sends a message.

After Albert Einstein’s wife died, his sister, Maja, moved in to assist with the household affairs. For fourteen years she cared for him, allowing his valuable research to continue. In 1950 she suffered a stroke and lapsed into a coma. Thereafter, Einstein spent two hours every afternoon reading aloud to her from Plato. She gave no sign of understanding his words, but he read anyway. If she understood anything by his gesture, she understood this—he believed that she was worth his time.

Do you believe in your kids? Then show up. Show up at their games. Show up at their plays…Do you believe in your friends? Show up at their graduations and weddings. Spend time with them. You want to bring out in the best in someone? Then show up.

:o) I'm sending this to all my brothers and sisters, i think they need this message! HUGS, K8

Failures Are Not Fatal
Thursday, July 24, 2008
“We must pay more careful attention…to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.”
Hebrews 2:1 NIV

If you lose your faith, you will probably do so gradually. You will let a few days slip by without consulting your compass. Your sails will go untrimmed. Your rigging will go unprepared. And worst of all, you will forget to anchor your boat. And, before you know it, you’ll be bouncing from wave to wave in stormy seas.

And unless you anchor deep, you could go down. How do you anchor deep? Look at the verse again: “We must pay careful attention…to what we have heard…”

The most reliable anchor points are not recent discoveries, but are time-tested truths that have held their ground against the winds of change. Truths like:

My life is not futile.

My failures are not fatal.

My death is not final.

Attach your soul to these boulders and no wave is big enough to wash you under.

Myles and Sherry,
I think we all need to remember who our compass was. When I was young, I used to tell my dad he was my compass, and my mom was my wings. I am thinkful that they were! Now, with out them, and know for without a doubt, the job was always and always will be Jesus Christs'. Much love and continued prayers to all!! ~k8
