It's been a while. Where do I begin? Myles is doing great and is definitely thirteen (all mom's know this age, ugh). He had the week off for spring break and has kept really busy golfing, movies, spending the night over at friend's houses. We just finished all the necessary paperwork so he can go to burn camp in June. Six days of rafting down a river in Salt Lake City, fifty two rapids (yikes) and the company of other teens who have been burned. This will be so great for him, being able to talk to other kids and them really knowing how he feels. We try to understand but I truly believe that unless you go through it, you really don't understand. My concern is him being out in the middle of NOWHERE on a raft with his hemophilia. The good that this will do him is outweighing the fear (at least that is what I am trying to convince myself).
We have also been busy with getting letters to the judge for Aaron's sentencing on April 21. Trying to explain to the judge, in a letter, about the love my two boys have for each other is very hard, a book could be written on their bond. We are all keeping a very positive outlook on the final sentencing and getting this behind us.
I have been, in the meantime, getting my organic gardening adventure together. I decided on the name "Garden Gate Farms". Ordering seeds, starting plants indoors, truckloads (and I mean truckloads, my pick-up is tired) of organic compost, disking the field, fixing up the shed out back for my vegetable stand, yeah I'm tired and sore. I am so excited about this, my love of gardening and cooking will definitely put a lot of love into this effort. Well I'm sure there is something I need to be doing (smile) an will keep updating as to all of our progress.

A big storm is brewing outside my window.
"We did not inherit the earth from our ancestors, but borrowed it from our children".
I don't know who wrote that, but I like it!

Love the Overlooked

“Put on the apron of humility, to serve one another.”
I Peter 5:5 TEV
Servanthood requires no unique skill or seminary degree. Regardless of your strengths, training, or church tenure, you can…love the overlooked.
Jesus sits in your classroom, wearing the thick glasses, outdated clothing, and a sad face. You’ve seen him. He’s Jesus.
Jesus works in your office. Pregnant again, she shows up to work late a tired. No one knows the father. According to water-cooler rumors, even she doesn’t know the father. You’ve seen her. She’s Jesus.
When you talk to the lonely student, befriend the weary mom, you love Jesus. He dressed in the garb of the overlooked and ignored. “Whenever you did one of these things to someone overlooked or ignored, that was me—you did it to me” (Matt. 25:40 MSG).
Wow, we sure would act a whole lot differently if we thought that way, that's for sure. Hope all is well, much love and continued prayers for all,

God’s Name

The Lord is my shepherd; I have everything I need.
Psalm 23:1
“You want to know who God really is?” David asks. “Then read this.” And he writes the name Yahweh. “Yahweh is my shepherd.”
Though foreign to us, the name was rich to David. So rich, in fact, that David chose Yahweh over El Shaddai (God Almighty), El Elyon (God Most High), and El Olam (God the Everlasting). These and many other titles for God were at David’s disposal. But when he considered all the options, David chose Yahweh.
Why Yahweh? Because Yahweh is God’s name. You can call me preacher or writer or half-baked golfer- these are accurate descriptions, but these aren’t my names. I might call you dad, mom, doctor, or student, and those terms may describe you, but they aren’t your name. If you want to call me by my name, say Max. If I call you by your name, I say it. And if you want to call God by his name, say Yahweh.

We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses. Hebrews 4:15
When God chose to reveal himself, he did so (surprise of surprises) through a human body. The tongue that called forth the dead was a human one. The hand that touched the leper had dirt under its nails. The feet upon which the woman wept were calloused and dusty. And his tears…oh, don’t miss the tears…they came from a heart as broken as yours or mine ever has been.
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.”
So, people came to him. My, how they came to him! They came at night; they touched him as he walked down the street; they followed him around the sea; they invited him into their homes and placed their children at his feet. Why? Because he refused to be a statue in a cathedral or a priest in an elevated pulpit. He chose instead to be Jesus.
It's a good choice. Everyone should choose to be with Jesus! Much love and continued prayers for all. Much love, K8
Try Again

“We worked hard all night and caught nothing.”
Luke 5:5 NASB
Do you have any worn, wet, empty nets?
Do you know the feeling of a sleepless, fishless night? Of course you do. For what have you been casting?
Solvency? “My debt is an anvil around my neck…”
Faith? “I want to believe, but…”
Healing? “I’ve been sick so long…”
A happy marriage? “No matter what I do…”
I’ve worked hard all night and caught nothing.
You’ve felt what Peter felt. You’ve sat where Peter sat. And now Jesus is asking you to go fishing. He knows your nets are empty. He knows your heart is weary. He knows you’d like nothing more than to turn your back on the mess and call it a life.
But he urges, “It’s not too late to try again.”
See if Peter’s reply won’t help you formulate your own. “I will do as You say and let down the nets” (v.5).
Good advise, we should all listen!! Hope all is well. Much love and continued prayers for all!!!

Our Middle C
Wednesday, April 09, 2008
I the LORD do not change.
Malachi 3:6
When Lloyd Douglas, author of The Robe and other novels, attended college, he lived in a boarding house. A retired, wheelchair-bound music professor resided on the first floor. Each morning Douglas would stick his head in the door of the teacher’s apartment and ask the same question, “Well, what’s the good news?” The old man would pick up his tuning fork, tap it on the side of the wheelchair, and say, “That’s middle C!” It was middle C yesterday; it will be middle C tomorrow; it will be middle C a thousand years from now. The tenor upstairs sings flat. The piano across the hall is out of tune, but, my friend, that is middle C.”
You and I need a middle C. Haven’t you had enough change in your life? Relationships change. Health changes. The weather changes. But the Yahweh who ruled the earth last night is the same Yahweh who rules it today. Same convictions. Same plan. Same mood. Same love. He never changes.
Love that promise, don't you!! Continued prayers for all!! K8
Be Kind to Yourself
Thursday, April 10, 2008
Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32 NKJV
Our heavenly Father is kind to us. And since he is so kind to us, can’t we be a little kinder to ourselves? Oh, but you don’t know me, Max. You don’t know my faults and my thoughts. You don’t know the gripes I grumble and the complaints I mumble. No, I don’t, but he does. He knows everything about you, yet he doesn’t hold back his kindness toward you. Has he, knowing all your secrets, retracted one promise or reclaimed one gift?
No, he is kind to you. Why don’t you be kind to yourself? He forgives your faults. Why don’t you do the same? He thinks tomorrow is worth living. Why don’t you agree? He believes in you enough to call you his ambassador, his follower, even his child. Why not take his cue and believe in yourself?
Awesome advise. LOVE IT!! We've been in cloud for over a week. No sun. I NEED THE SUN. Hope is well with all of you, much love and continued prayers to all! ~k8
Made in His Image
Friday, April 11, 2008
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image.”
Genesis 1:26 NKJV
Imagine God’s creativity. Of all we don’t know about the creation, there is one thing we do know – he did it with a smile. He must’ve had a blast. Painting the stripes on the zebra, hanging the stars in the sky, putting the gold in the sunset. What creativity! Stretching the neck of the giraffe, putting the flutter in the mockingbird’s wings, planting the giggle in the hyena.
What a time he had. Like a whistling carpenter in his workshop, he loved every bit of it. He poured himself into the work. So intent was his creativity that he took a day off at the end of the week just to rest.
And then, as finale to a brilliant performance, he made man. With his typical creative flair, he began with a useless mound of dirt and ended up with an invaluable species called a human. A human who had the unique honor to bear the stamp, “In His Image.”
Cool, isn't it. When someone says, 'who do you look like', guess what you get to say! Much love and continued prayers ~k8
It's such a good sign that a week or two or three will pass in between blogs. That's such an indicator that you all are living life, and not living on pins an needles. I will continue to offer prayers.
Thank you,
San Diego MOM
