The Farm

We had a really nice fourth. A few friends over and a BBQ. Myles didn't want to get any where near a sparkler. It's been real hot up here in Idaho, over a hundred the last few days, even breaking records. I thought that I would tell anyone who hasn't been here about our animals.

Toby - our black quarter horse who "owns" the ranch. He is our watchdog as if anything is happening within a few miles of our house, he knows.

Chelsea - Our white Arabian horse. She is Toby's "kick the dog" as anytime Toby is mad he bites Chelsea's butte.

Wendy and Donkey - our two miniature donkeys who's EEEEAAAAWWW can be heard for miles.

Teetzie - the love of my life, she is a miniature horse that stands about 28 inches high. She's brown with a blonde mane and tail. I also call her my surfer chick.

Mamma, Tristen, Kassie, and Phil - our pygmy goats. Kassie will be having babies in about a week. The babies are so cute and small, only about 7 or 8 inches high when they are born. Phil is a cry baby, we are all going to get shirts made that say "SHUT UP PHIL" on them.

Cinnamon, Egore, and baby - our baby cows who are still on the bottle.

Sadie and Ged - Sadie is our 100# golden retriever and Ged is our 140# yellow lab.

Tina, Lucy, and Jazzabelle - our three cats, Jazzabelle (or Roo as we call her) belongs to Tuyet and Aaron. Tina and Lucy are Angels babies that we decided to keep after Angel died of an infection. We also have Ebony who came with the house. She stays outside and comes around every once in a while for food.

Birdie and Figero - our two parakeets.

Ferris and Chicabay - our two albino ferrets.

Saucer - our black pygmy rabbit.

Seventeen chickens

Eight homing pigeons that live in the barn.

An aquarium full of fish. Only two are named, Bruce is our Black Red tailed shark, and Ralph is our albino cat fish.

A pond full of koi and goldfish.

That's all, as least for now

Group Effort

Tuyet is back from Southern California and her dad is on the road to recovery. Time is what it takes for all to heal. I have to recruit help on the babies as they are a handful. Even Ged pitches in to help clean them up after the bottle feeding........drool fest. After the babies are done drinking their milk they commence to suck on each others noses for a while. Aaron, Boo, Buggies, and I went fishing on the Snake River on Sunday, lots of fun but Aaron is scared of heights and wouldn't get near the edge to take the picture (just like his mom). Myles on the other hand would hang from his toe nails over the edge with a huge smile on his face.

Myles' New Therapy

Hey All,
Wanted to let you know that Myles has a new therapy for his hands. Bottle feeding three baby calves. They are a couple of weeks old and are smaller than Ged (Myles' dog). We have to bottle feed them twice a day with a half gallon bottle each. Poor mother cows who have to put up with all that pulling and pushing!! It was hilarious bringing them home in the back of our truck. The brown one is a girl named Cinnamon (I call her Cindy) and she belongs to buggies. She will be the beginning of our new herd. She sure is a honry little thing. Myles can't feed her yet as she shoves the bottle in your stomach or other places if your not careful. So he is feeding the smallest of the boys for now. The other two are steers and will end up where "filet" and "mignon" (our last two bottle fed cows) ended up.... in our freezer. I'm not sure if we have named them yet as I want "Porter" and "T-Bone" and Myles wants "Timon" and "Pumba". Myles spent the night in their pen the first night they were here. I don't think that he will do that again as they stood over him all night and drooled. He was one big slime in the morning.
All for now, time to feed the babies.

No Father's Day Celebration

I think that America should create a "No father Day" holiday. It will be a day to honor all the children out there who have absent fathers in there life. These children must live with all the pain of seeing there friends have a loving and caring father and all the questions in their souls as to why their "dad" doesn't want anything to do with them. They seem to endure or accept this on a day to day basis with dignity and sorrow. Father's day really throws a curve ball on these children as a day of constant reminder that there dad doesn't care about them, or worse, when they beg their dads to come over on father's day and then they sit and wait all day without a show or call. Children are an amazing lesson on forgiveness and hope. I truly hope and pray that dads everywhere will realize HOW TRULY IMPORTANT they are to their kids. My never ending love is given to these kids and pray that they know that they ARE important and very very loved. Maybe we should change father's day to "Heavenly Father's Day" so all children can enjoy a day of celebration and not sorrow.

Saturday June 16

Yesterday went as well as it could have in regards to Aaron. We seem to have a reprieve for a while, at least physically, not sure about emotionally, as the next court date/jury trial will not start until the first of October. Myles has just left to spend the night at a friends house (yikes). This will be the first night of him being away from me at night since mid February. He is totally excited and I am in total anticipation of a sleepless night! We are still having a lot of trouble with his elbows healing but I fear that they will be an ongoing pain in our butte and we decided to not let his elbows hold him back. Aaron, Tuyet, Myles, and David golfed nine holes yesterday. Buggies did great until about the sixth hole and decided to kill the ball to his elbows demise. He did finish the course but with pain, at least he is trying. Tuyet went back down to California this morning to be with her father again. He seems to be going through a lot of what Myles went through minus the Hemophilia. He contracted an infection, a blood clot, and went through the delerious stage. Tuyet's family was kinda freaking out over all of this until Boo told them that it was "normal" for a burn victim to experience these things. Funny how things are sometimes.
A very big HAPPY FATHERS DAY to all those wonderful dads out there. May your day be filled with love, family, and laughter.
With love,
Sherry

Myles' Bowl'a'thon

Hey all,
I wanted to let you all know that the Hemophilia Foundation of Idaho is having a bowl'a'thon to benefit Myles. It will be held on July 14 at the Nampa bowling alley. Hemophilia chapters in other states have heard about Myles and are going to become involved. I guess anyone, in any state, who is interested can enjoy a day of bowling to benefit buggies. Here is the website for his bowl'a'thon. www.nampabowl.com and just click on the Myles Ganley benefit. If you are interested in this you can also contact the hemophilia foundation at
Hemophilia Foundation of Idaho,
Phones:Office: 208-344-4476
Toll free: 866-453-4476
e-mail: idahoblood@velocitus.net
It should be a lot of fun!!!! Any questions you can contact the foundation or me at sjgmcg@msn.com
Myles has been working real hard on his therapy for his hands so he can start bowling again by then. Keep your fingers crossed.
Lots of love
Myles, Aaron, Tuyet, and me

Idaho is So Beautiful

We had a pretty good rain yesterday which makes for a spectacular morning. Idaho is in full swing and looks like Ireland (I think because I have never been there). I watched the sunrise this morning to unveil the fields that had been so thirsty being very content. The smells of all of the different crops being grown around us are a symphony for the nose. All of the baby cows were running around and playing. I truly love the sunrises as it always seem to be "a fresh new day" with endless possibilities. Myles swung a golf club this weekend and says that he is starting to feel his groove again. He loves his new clubs that Uncle Ned/Ed gave to him and seems excited for the first time to play a round of golf or, at least, going to drive some balls. Tuyet got home from So Cal yesterday from being with her father. He is having some troubles (the infamous burn infection) but hopefully will respond to the antibiotics. With him having a very high temp they decided to not take any donor sites and used cadaver skin for now. She is going back down there next weekend but wanted to come home to be able to be with Aaron for court on Friday. Our reunion with her was very emotional as Myles, Aaron, and myself knew first hand at what she has been going through with her father. A few months back, we wouldn't of had a clue. When I asked her if her "knowing what was going to happen" was a good thing, she said not at first but it is now. I don't think that her dad enjoys the daily torture chamber (wound care) any more than Myles did. She told Myles last night that her father said to tell him that he is very brave. Will keep you all posted.................

Our Crash Course in Life Continues

Isn't it amazing how we do not truly appreciate the times in our life when not a lot is going on. We think that life is kind of boring with the same old thing over and over again. God only knows how much I wish that was our life right now. Tuyet's (our angel) father, who is 70, was making a herbal vapor for his allergies on Monday when it tipped over on him. The boiling water spilled in his lap and he received second and third degree burns on his lower extremities. Boo flew down there Tuesday morning to be with her father and family. They are planning the graft surgery for Friday but with his age and thin skin, it will be a difficult procedure. I hope there will be a day soon that when someone asks us "what is new" we will say "NOTHING!!!!". This has been the most unbelievable five months I have ever experienced. I know that good will rise from all of this, as it already has, but a break of about five years or more would be nice. Please send some prayers to Tuyet's dad as all of your prayers have always been truly miracles. Tuyet is part of our family and has stayed by our side through all of this. I am amazed at our continued strength through these lessons in life.

The Day

Today was a very busy, confusing, and a radically changing day. The bottom line is that we are going to court on 6/15 to face the charges. A lot of unexpected turns took place today and I think that we are all still spinning from them. Will update on details later as we are all quite mentally tired and are going to garden, feed animals, things that make some sense to us. Love to you all.

The Birthday Pictures

I finally got all of the pictures posted on kodak gallery. I tried to make it so you didn't have to sign in but it didn't work out that way. It only takes a second and all you have to do is create your own account using your e-mail address and a password that you have chosen, it's free. Then we can all share our pictures there. As you can see from the pix, the day was filled with love and laughter. You can view the pix by clicking on the following.

Today, I fear, is going to be a solemn day for us. We have court in the morning (pretrial) and the anticipation and anxiety over seeing Myles burn in the video is weighing on our souls. We had a family meeting last night to talk over if buggies seeing the video will help his healing and closure. We decided to shield him from seeing it, he has reality but does not need a visual memory. As for Aaron and I, we will do what we have to do and keep in our minds and hearts that Myles is alive and is in the room with us. That's all that matters. I know that I don't need to ask as you all have been so wonderful with your prayers and well wishing but say a little prayer for our strength tommorow.
With love,
Sherry

The Luau

Thank you all that came to celebrate buggies b-day. It was awesome!!!! The pig turned out great (we named him Wilbur). It was pretty scary taking him out of the ground after 10 hours and hoping it was good, but it was fabulous. The day was filled with every emotion that you can think of. Family, new friends, old friends................ Great day. Myles and mine love and appreciation goes out to our family that came from out of town. It was truly a wonderful well needed Ganley reunion, I wish that we got to spend more time with them and have them get to know Myles a little more, but life is good. We think that it was good that they all got together. There was over 300 pictures taken and we will be posting them soon. Hope you all enjoy, and thank you again for all your love and support through our times of hardship and celebration. My love especially goes out to the people that came to the party that "really know" what we have been through, it is pretty much unspoken what we have to go through every day that we don't reveal to everyone. It was so comforting to meet people and moms that have been there and have survived. I pray that we survive all this as well as they have. The pictures are on there way!!!!!!

Almost 13!

We have two days until Myles turns 13. Been pretty busy getting ready for his party but with great excitement. Weather forecast says around 80 degrees and NO WIND. I sure hope the pig comes out good as getting through Idaho's hard pan to build the pit has been an adventure, to say the least. Myles is doing good and is so looking forward to his day of celebration. Last weekend we went to his friend Dave's birthday party and had a great time. As you can see from the picture, he was in his normal rare form. I will be taking lots of pictures for all of you that can not come and posting them somewhere (Aaron will figure that one out).

All for now

What to Do?

I am getting a lot of e-mails, phone calls, questions about how we can, as a community/family, help Aaron. I do not know, as we have never dealt with the judicial system before. If anyone has any ideas please let me know, We are grateful to have never been in this situation before neither for myself or my children. I am also grateful for any ideas as how to go about getting the word out that my son didn't mean for this to happen and will "punish" himself for the rest of his life. I pray that he forgives himself so he can continue to be the loving brother to buggies as he has always been.
Appreciation seems like a trivial word,
Sherry

A Step Back in Time

I feel that I am stepping back in time. Motherly fears, helplessness, wishing to be woke up (again) from a terrible nightmare. Sometimes I think that maybe I was in a really bad car accident and in a coma having the worst nightmare a mother can have. I seem to find comfort in this, as if it were the case, my two sons would both be OK and just waiting for me to come to. I would take that over all of this. I am sorry to say that Myles has stopped going to school. I feel that there is too much going on right now as physical healing is so tied to mental health. Stress seems to really take a toll on Myles' wounds and they seem to be coming back again. There doesn't seem to be any medication for our mental pain. We are trying our best to keep our heads up but we all seem to be so tired and weak. God's will, we will get through this. At least we have each other right now, all in the same boat, waiting to get to the shore.
With love,
Sherry

Your Prayers are needed again

We have started our next mountain to climb (even though we are only half way through our first mountain) . Our love for one another will give us the strength but your prayers can help give us a push when it all gets to difficult to climb anymore. All of your prayers and support saved one of my son's and now I am asking you to pray to help my other.

My unending gratitude and thanks,

Sherry

Brother of burn victim appears in court
Myles Ganley and family support Aaron Sogoian, charged in fire
By Sandra Forester - sforester@idahostatesman.com
Edition Date: 05/16/07
Myles Ganley, the Nampa 12-year-old severely burned in a Nampa gas station fire in February, was in the courtroom Tuesday to support his older brother, who is charged with sparking that fire.
Aaron Sogoian, 26, arrived in court with Myles and other family members, who hugged him and sometimes fought back tears. It was Sogoian's first court appearance on felony charges of aggravated 2nd degree arson and injury to a child.
The beginning of the court case against Sogoian has added uncertainly and grief to the trauma of Ganley's injuries and recovery, Sherry Ganley, the boys' mother, said in a recent interview. Family members declined to comment Tuesday.
Magistrate Bradley Ford set a preliminary hearing for June 4, during which a judge will decide whether there is enough evidence to move the case to 3rd District Court.
Sogoian is accused of sparking a lighter while filling a 1995 Buick with gas at a south Nampa gas station on Feb 17, igniting gas fumes. The fire spread to his younger brother who was severely burned on his body, arms and hands. Sogoian also is charged with injury to a child for not immediately rendering aid or care.
Myles Ganley spent a couple of months in a Salt Lake City burn center and still has a long road to recovery, family members have said. The seventh-grader returned to school almost full-time last month.
Sogoian could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted on the arson charge and up to 10 years more for the second charge. He is free on his own recognizance.
A videotape of the incident recorded by gas station security cameras is a key piece of evidence that prosecutors say was a key factor in their decision to press charges. Prosecutors have declined to release the video to the media.
Firefighters who responded to the scene of the fire initially described the incident as a tragic accident.
Sherry Ganley said she believes the charges are unjustified, and she needs the help of her older son to provide an intense level of care for Ganley. She believes helping to care for Ganley is also healing emotionally for Sogoian, who said in prior interviews that he was devastated by the incident and loves his brother dearly.
"What kind of justice is in kicking a small and loving family when they are at they're lowest?" Sherry Ganley said earlier. "I fear that we might not have the strength to endure what is being set before us, injury on top of injury."

Mother's Day

Hey everyone,
I know, no recent posts. We have been real busy around here lately, planting vegetable gardens, irrigating the fields, getting ready for Myles' birthday Luau, stuff like that. Buggies is doing good, he still has really bad times, but they don't last real long. He is back to school pretty much full time on Mon/Wed/Fridays and half days on Tue and Thurs. because of physical therapy.
There was an article in the Idaho Statesmans awhile back that had requested letter's from moms to explain who has inspired them to be a better person and mother. I was compelled to write in, here is what I wrote and I hope that everyone has that special someone to inspire them:

I know someone who has taught me more in life than anyone else. He taught me to love unceasingly, to love without judgment, "You don't have to forgive, if you don't judge" was a comment he once made to me. He taught me to breathe slowly and listen to my heart when my mind was screaming in a thousand different directions. Or better yet, to listen to someone else's heart and give to them what their mind won't let them have. He validated the fact that love is unending, to love others does not take away from the ones that you already love. He taught me to slow down and take the time to appreciate all of God's small but great gifts, a baby field mouse, a cloud that looks like a dinosaur, the smell of the fields, a child with a disability beautiful smile. But most of all, he taught me to surrender to life's path that was given to me but to do it with hope, faith, and excitement. Who throughout his 12 years of life has stood up to all that he says with dignity and ways way beyond his years. Everyone who has ever met him is a better person in some way. Thank you my son, I love you very much. My mentor in this life is my son, Myles Ganley.

P.S.

I forgot to tell all of you that I couldn't find Myles the other night. We all started panicking and running all over the place looking for him. Here is where he was, under my bed and sound asleep.

Wonderful News!

I don't know if you are all aware that buggies hit his million dollar cap very quick in ICU. I was looking at owing in excess of $270,000 to the University of Utah. I just found out that Myles was qualified for the Katie Beckett Medicaid AND THEY BACK DATED TO JAN 07!!!!!! This means that the state will pick up all of the medical expenses that were going to be owed by me. What a tremendous weight that has been lifted off my shoulders and removed from always being in the back of my mind. I am still crying as I write this. I won't "loose the farm" after all. Katie Beckett is for children who have a catastrophic medical need and boy does buggies qualify. His hemophilia factor alone right now is averaging around 8,000 dollars a week. I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THIS and wanted to share it with everyone, one less thing to be dealing with.
Love to all,
Sherry

Normalcy

Yesterday was an unbelivable day.... Myles playing with his friend..........Aaron and Tuyet on a raft enjoying the beauty of the lake that we live on and me in the kitchen, enjoying what I do, cooking. We propped up the trailer in our yard and played pictionary last night, Myles and Aaron are totally unbeatable. They seem to have this Volcan mind meld or something. Myles draws a line, and Aaron guesses the empire state building, and it's right, whatever..................I think they cheat!!! Sometimes it's hard to have a good day. It makes the reality of this seem non existent or gone. But it is not gone, just for moments, which we cherish. Wound care this morning was exceptionally hard with having such a good day yesterday. He has a few painful hemotoma's under his pressure gear. Aaron seems to be very solemn today. It's amazing how things can change in one day. We are blessed...........I used to say how amazing that things can change in ten minutes not days. We are doing better. I am scared for some crazy reason when things are good as it seems to make the rough times harder. But there is another day.

GREAT DAY AT SCHOOL

Hey All,
Myles had a great day at school yesterday. A lot of the kids were waiting for him in anticipation. I think that he is a little overwhelmed with the attention but handled it very "cool". I gave him pain meds in the morning (just in case) and it seemed to work well. He was actually sad when I picked him up at noon as he wanted to stay for the rest of the day. I think that he enjoyed his friends and was AWAY FROM MOM for a while. Speaking of mom, I was a mess, total separation anxiety as I have not been away from my son at all since the accident. We were talking to the counselor about what to watch out for and I heard the bell ring, when I turned around to tell buggies to have a great time, he was gone, I panicked. I recruited two of his best friends to be his body guards in my absence at school and boy did they fit the bill. You would of thought that Myles was the president or something and they were secret service. What made it so cute was that neither one of them is much bigger than bugs. I contemplated just sitting in my car in the parking lot for three hours just in case, but realized that I was being a little over protective. So I went to Home Depot down the street from the school and walked every aisle and spent quite a lot of time in the nursery. The phone rang while I was there and I saw that it was the school!!!! Panick doesn't explain............It was the nurse who just wanted to ask me a few questions, what a gal. I went back to the school and sat in the parking lot after that. Separation anxiety, you think??? Buggies actually took the bus today and I seem much better today than yesterday. I don't even think that I was that bad for the first time when I dropped them off at kindergarten. Well, I need to go pick him up and go to physical therapy. Maybe, and I stress maybe, I will let him go back to school full time next week if this week goes well. We will just need to get everything done that is necessary daily done after school without it being midnight.
Love to you all,
THE OVER PROTECTIVE MOM

I'm Sorry

I am sorry for my last postings. This blog site is about buggies recovery and will remain as such.
Myles received his new pressure garments today. They are red and black and he is very excited because he thinks they are cool (and they fit better than his first set). He is wearing the vest and gloves but can not wear his new arm sleeves until the issue with the blood thinner has been healed. I just talked to the school and I am going to send him back to there on Monday for 3 periods. We will see how it goes and if all is well eventually he will return to full days, if not, we will wait a little longer. He needs to get back into seeing his friends and enjoying life. Will keep you all posted on how he does.
With love,
Sherry

The Perception of Time

It has been two months ago today that buggies got burnt. I don't know about everyone else, but it sure seems like two years ago to me!

Myles is breaking medical ground

Hey everyone,
Sorry to say but we had another really hard day yesterday. Everyday seems to be so different. When one thing slows down or goes away...another seems to come up. The donor site itching seemed to be slowing way down and the blistering was just here and there. Over the weekend I started to notice that Myles' left arm was turning very blotchy red. Well by yesterday morning when we removed his bandages he had deep burgundy spider veins all over his arm and was in tremendous pain. I called the Burn Unit to see if this was a "normal" part of healing (as was the blisters and the itching) and they said no. When the pain kept intensifying I took him to the Hemophilia Center with him screaming in pain the whole way there. As you have seen in past posts, we had taken him off of the Lovenox shots and put him on oral Warafin to thin his blood. We have been taking blood tests every few days to get his Warafin to a level of 2.0 - 2.5 (INR) which is needed for a normal person with DVT. We started at two mg/day and by last Friday had increased him to 4.5 mg/day. At the center, they checked his level and it was at 2.0 mg, right where it should be and with him getting Factor IX everyday we had finally reached our goal to maintain his blood clots. Wrong!! At 2.0, the Warafin was overriding his factor and his blood vessels were breaking in his arm from the necessary pressure garment. Ten hours later, lots and lots of morphine, a CT scan, and more morphine, the decision was made to take buggies off of the blood thinner completely as his grafting and donor site healing is the most important issue right now. We can only hope and pray that the blood clots like where they are and not migrate. He will be on oral morphine for a few days to help with the extreme pain he is in from his arm. The morphine does make him itch terribly but I think that he can tolerate the itching more than the pain. It was very hard for me to see him in so much pain yesterday as I thought that maybe those "extremely painful days" were over.

I know this is a lot of info, but Myles is breaking into new territory for doctors, around the nation, regarding burns, hemophilia, blood clots, thinners, and treatment of the above. There are doctors here in Boise, Salt Lake City, Denver, Orange County, and the Shriners that are all following his progress to better aid in the care of any future person with hemophilia that has been burned to this extreme. Myles and I are grateful for this, but I am sad that my son is the guinee pig, God's Will will prevail.

An Essay by Myles

I was going through some of my paperwork and came across this essay that Myles wrote about three months ago. I thought that I would share it with you.
"My heart is the object I am chosing for a bunch of different reasons. Not only does my heart let me live, it guides me and shows me a true way through life. Hearts can love, show compassion, and can be your friend by getting yourself a friend.
One may have as many friends as there are trees but that doesn't mean that they are true friends. Listening to and speaking from your heart will get you your best and most reliable friends. Don't lie or try to be someone you are not but just try to be someone your heart wants you to be.
If your getting into trouble or not doing what you need to be doing at school or at home, just turn and listen to what your heart has to say to you. Minds are deceiving and not always terrible but mischevious. And will sometimes try to bring you down. I think if more people listened to their hearts rather than their minds there will be a lot less trouble and pain.
People say this a lot and sometimes without meaning "Listen to your heart" but what they are really saying is listen to someone elses heart and do the right thing for them. So listen to you heart and do what think is right. Just remember your mind speaks loudly BUT YOUR HEART SPEAKS WISELY."
Myles Ganley

A Thorough Update

Good Morning All,
Thursday morning and Myles and I don't have anywhere to go today!!!! The week has been so hectic with appointments that I am actually very happy to not have any today. Maybe I can start my vegetable garden or fertilize my fields (wow, I didn't think that I would be doing that this year). I wanted to give everyone an update on buggies status. We had an ultrasound done last week to check on his blood clots in his legs. The clots are still there but they said that they looked "old" (just like me!). I assume that they meant that they are stabilizing and being incorporated into his body. We have taken him off the dreaded Lovenox shots that we were giving him every morning and night and have put him on oral meds for the blood thinner (Warafin). That's the reason that we have been having to go for so many blood draws as it is hard to get the dosing right. Myles, Aaron, and I have NOOOOOOOO PROBLEM with the blood draws as he still has a pic line in but those shots were painful for everybody, Myles getting them and Aaron and I for giving them to him (Thank you Dr. Johnston). He is still receiving factor every day to combat the blood thinners, can you believe it. His grafts are healing with no open wounds (and starting to scar) on his stomach and back except for the grafts on his right arm. He still has open wounds and has yet to be able to wear any pressure garments on that arm. They checked his range of motion at the physical therapist and he has really good range on his right arm and fairly good range on the left. His hands are looking great (Dr. Cochran, you did a fabulous job) except the little finger on his left hand has gone into contracture (bent and can't straighten). We are going to really work on this finger during rehab to see if there is a way to straighten it without surgery. When the therapist asked Myles what the most important thing that he wants to do again, he said "GOLF". Aaron and him tried swinging a club last weekend and Myles got really sad that he "lost his groove". I try and use this to force him to work hard during therapy by telling him that he will get it back or even better than before (mom tricks). Aaron, Tuyet (our little angel) and I all work together to get through his bandage changes (I think that they should make that a bad word or something) as his skin is still so sensitve to cold, heat, water, etc. As far as his donor sites.........the blistering has slowed down but the itching has NOT.......
Well I guess that this is enough FYI for one posting. I again can not find the words to thank everyone for their love and prayers through all this, just know until I figure out a way to express it. Love to you all. Sherry

The Healing is Slow

Happy late Easter to all,

I had to take a break from the postings for a while, it was making me sad to not have any good news. The funeral really got to us on an emotional level. We all have been so tied up in the physical aspect of this that our emotional well being had to take to the side. As Myles slowly heals physically we are starting to deal with all of this in very small steps. We had a very nice Easter day at our friends house. The nights are still tough but they ARE getting better. This is another busy week for us, Monday was blood work, today is formal physical therapy, Wed. is fitting for his pressure garments and more blood work. The majority of our days are pretty good until the itching starts. Hopefully that will subside soon as it is very hard to control and practically anything can trigger it, emotions, heat, certain clothes, physical excertion. Myles doesn't like the formal wound care or physical therapy so we usually go get some lunch afterwards.

The Doubt

We attended the funeral today of an innocent young child who was trying to save his brother. The six year old brother got up and said "My brother is my heroe". Very hard one to handle.
On the news after the funeral, a boy at Vallivue High School (the local school of buggies) reported that a kid accidently spilled gas on himself during shop class. Another student knowing that he had gas spilled on him, threw a mathch on him and lit him on fire. This kid was flown to Salt Lake City today to relive our past. The shock, the pain, the surgeries, the fear, more pain................... I'm really not sure of the lesson we are to be learning. I'm really not sure of the compassion of God. We all agreed (Aaron, Tuyet, Myles, and I) that we are going to try and be patient of his message but it is very trying. Myles is going to call the ICU burn unit to tell them that they need to give the loving care to this boy that they gave to him. Lindsey, Ashlee, STEVE, Sean, John, and MARTINI, take the loving care that you gave Myles and give it to this boy. Our cat just had five babies, that's what we named them.......... Lindsey, Ashlee, steve, Sean, and martini. We love you guys so much. Please, please, please, take care of this boy as you did buggies, with your loving care.
Is this all ever going to stop? We are almost done..........

A Very Sad Day

Hey everybody,
No recent posts as this week has been very hectic. Everyday Myles has had to get something done, fitted for his pressure garments, ultrasounds on his leg for the blood clots, blood work up on his hemophilia, wound care, physical therapy.......
Today is a very sad day as we are going to attend the funeral for one of Myles' best friends, Eric. Eric passed away about a week ago when he jumped into a lake to save his 6 year old younger brother who had accidently fell into the water. He was unable to get to his brother and an Uncle jumped in to save the 6 year old but was unable to save Eric. Myles learned of his friends death when I took him to his school on Tuesday so he could see some friends. It was very sad that Myles had to learn of the news in front of all of his peers. I had read about the story but was unaware that he went to school with buggies, or that he was one of his best friends. I pray for their family and ask you to do the same. I also pray for the strength of the kids attending the funeral as Vallivue Middle School seems to have had too many tragedies in such a short time. May peace be with us all.
