It's Been A While

I have not posted in a long time. Not sure why. December was a solemn month for me as burn victims keep coming into my reality. I'm sure there is a reason for it, but it (memories) still hurts. I think I am supposed to start speaking out in the name of fire prevention, split second life changing moments. We had a very quiet Christmas, no money but lots of family love (much better anyway). Myles is doing great! He is a 100% complete fourteen year old teenager (ugh). I am starting to get really excited about Aaron and Tuyet's wedding. Myles and I haven't been to California since my sisters funeral. It will be nice to go down there and see old friends on better terms. It's funny, with Aaron and Tuyet being together for so long, almost seven years, I always feel that they ARE married. Better yet, this is a step closer to grandchildren!!!!!!!

The Cure for Selfishness
Monday, January 19, 2009
“If there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, make my joy complete by being of the same mind.”
Philippians 2:2 NASB

What’s the cure for selfishness?

Get your self out of your eye by getting your eye off your self. Quit staring at that little self, and focus on your great Savior.

A friend who is an Episcopalian minister explains the reason he closes his prayers with the sign of the cross. “The touching of my forehead and chest makes a capital ‘I.’ The gesture of touching first one shoulder, then the other, cuts the ‘I’ in half.”

Isn’t that a work of the Cross? A smaller “I” and a greater Christ? Don’t focus on yourself; focus on all that you have in Christ. Focus on the fellowship of the Spirit, the affection and compassion of heaven.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!! Hope all is well, we're gearing up in No. Virginia for the CRAZINESS of the next two days. You all continue to be in our thoughts and prayers!! Much love ~k8

One Step at a Time
Tuesday, January 20, 2009
“Your word is like a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.”
Psalm 119:105

Arthur Hays Sulzberger was the publisher of the New York Times during the Second World War. Because of the world conflict, he found it almost impossible to sleep. He was never able to banish worries from his mind until he adopted as his motto these five words—“one step enough for me”—from the hymn “Lead Kindly Light.”

God isn’t going to let you see the distant scene either. So you might as well quit looking for it. He promises a lamp unto our feet, not a crystal ball into the future. We do not need to know what will happen tomorrow.

God is leading you. Leave tomorrow’s problems until tomorrow.

good advise! craziness in Northern Virginia today . .. . can't wait for this day to be over. Much love an dcontinued prayers to all! ~k8

God Never Gives Up
Wednesday, January 21, 2009
“God’s business is putting things right.”
Psalm 11:7 The Message

God never gives up.

When Joseph was dropped into a pit by his own brothers, God didn’t give up.

When Moses said, “Here I am, send Aaron,” God didn’t give up.

When the delivered Israelites wanted Egyptian slavery instead of milk and honey, God didn’t give up.

When Peter worshiped him at the supper and cursed him at the fire, he didn’t give up.

And when human hands fastened the divine hands to a cross with spikes, it wasn’t the soldiers who held the hands of Jesus steady. It was God who held them steady. God, who would give up his only son before he’d give up on you.

What a great promise! Hope all is well, love all the pictures on the book. Hope the quarter horse is improving, what's up with him? Any news? We'll add him to our prayers!! Much love to all!! ~k8

Applaud Loud and Often
Thursday, January 22, 2009
“Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; talk of all His wondrous works!”
Psalm 105:2 NKJV

God has never taken his eyes off you. Not for a millisecond. He’s always near. He lives to hear your heartbeat. He loves to hear your prayers. He’d die for your sin before he’d let you die in your sin, so he did.

What do you do with such a Savior? Don’t you sing to him? Don’t you declare, confess, and proclaim his name? Don’t you bow a knee, lower a head, hammer a nail, feed the poor, and lift up your gift in worship? Of course you do.

Worship God. Applaud him loud and often. For your sake, you need it.

And for heaven’s sake, he deserves it.

Starting to get a cold this morning! UGH!! My throat hurts, and i feel miserable . . . .Going to take some advil, and quit 'complaining'. Hope all is well with all of you, and the horse is recovering, musch love and continued prayers to all!! ~k8

Love Accepts All Things
Friday, January 23, 2009
“Love…bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

Wouldn’t it be nice if love were like a cafeteria line? What if you could look at the person with whom you live and select what you want and pass on what you don’t? What if parents could do this with kids? “I’ll take a plate of good grades and cute smiles, and I’m passing on the teenage identity crisis and tuition bills.”

What if kids could do the same with parents? “Please give me a helping of allowances and free lodging but no rules or curfews, thank you.”

And spouse with spouse? “H’m, how about a bowl of good health and good moods. Bit job transfers, in-laws, and laundry are not on my diet.”

Wouldn’t it be great if love were like a cafeteria line? It would be easier. It would be neater. It would be painless and peaceful. But you know what? It wouldn’t be love. Love doesn’t accept just a few things. Love is willing to accept all things

WOW good devotion. Hope all is well, and we hear good news soon about the quarter horse. It's super cold here, and I have a bit of a cold. First one this season. Guess i'm lucky! Off to work, much love and continued prayers to all. ~ K8
