The Garden

The vegetable garden is coming along well, delayed by the cold spring that we had. It seems that we went from winter to summer. I got really behind when buggies was in the hospital but with a lot of very hard work, I seem to be catching up. Myles and his friend John started to "work" for me yesterday for a few hours a day. I have them digging some beds and today they will build my green bean tepees. I don't have enough veggies to open my stand yet (lettuce, spinach, and turnips) but it will be soon. Hope, my darling goat, decided that she loves bell pepper plants and ate around 10 of my 35 plants (along with 25 organic strawberry plants). I grew them all from seed so I kind of took it personal. I put up a hot wire fence about 6 inches from the ground, well you get the point, she hasn't been in my garden since, my poor little darling was SO MAD when she got zapped. I need to get going on the shed to finish it off, at least the hard work is over on that (see before and after pix). I also recieved my small freezer so I can sell Italian Gelatto Ice Cream. I told the boys yesterday that they could make frozen chocolate bananas and sell them but they have to be in control of the business on them. We'll see. Well just an update on the garden. Love to all.

When Hopes Don’t Happen

“In the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion.”
Psalm 27:5 NKJV

What do we do with our disappointments? We could do what Miss Haversham did. Remember her in Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations? Jilted by her fiancĂ© just prior to the wedding…she closed all the blinds in the house, stopped every clock, left the wedding cake on the table to gather cobwebs, and wore her wedding dress until it hung in yellow decay around her shrunken form. Her wounded heart consumed her life.

We can follow the same course.

Or we can follow the example of the apostle Paul. His goal was to be a missionary in Spain…however, God sent him to prison. Sitting in a Roman jail, Paul could have made the same choice as Miss Haversham, but he didn’t. Instead he said, “As long as I’m here, I might as well write a few letters.” Hence your Bible has the Epistles to Philemon, the Philippians, the Colossians, and the Ephesians.

Hey the garden looks great!!! Hope all is well, continued prayers for all! ~k8

Myles,
I am so glad you had a great time away. I think that was so good for you and your mother. Now, let's see about you coming out to VA.

Sherry,
What a great job you did not the shed. Did put in a lot of hours on your "farm". Enjoy the fruit of your labor.

Love you all
