Divine Miracles Tuesday, January 15, 2008 “All things were made by him, and nothing was made without him.” John 1:3
From where I write I can see several miracles.
White-crested waves slap the beach with rhythmic regularity. One after the other the rising swells of salt water gain momentum, humping, rising, then standing to salute the beach before crashing onto the sand. How many billions of times has this simple mystery repeated itself since time began?
In the distance lies a miracle of colors—twins of blue. The ocean-blue of the Atlantic encounters the pale blue of the sky, separated only by the horizon…
Miracles. Divine miracles.
These are miracles because they are mysteries. Scientifically explainable? Yes. Reproducible? To a degree.
But they are still mysteries. Events that stretch beyond our understanding and find their origins in another realm. They are every bit as divine as divided seas, walking cripples, and empty tombs.
Hey!! Just returned from Disney . . . ran 26.2 mi with Mickey MOUSE!!! It was great. Visited with my sister Terry. What a blessing she is! it was a blast. Much love and continued prayers for ALL!!
Water of Eternal Life Wednesday, January 16, 2008 “The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.” John 4:14
Remember the words of Jesus to the Samaritan woman? “The water I give will become a spring of water gushing up inside that person, giving eternal life.” Jesus offers, not a singular drink of water, but a perpetual artesian well! And the well isn’t a hole in your backyard but the Holy Spirit of God in your heart.
“If anyone believes in me, rivers of living water will flow out from that person’s heart, as Scripture says.” Jesus was talking about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet been raised to glory. But later, those who believed in Jesus would receive the Spirit (John 7:38-39).
Water, in this verse, is a picture of the Spirit of Jesus working in us. He’s not working to save us, mind you; that work is done. He’s working to change us.
A Worry-Free Life Thursday, January 17, 2008 “Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need.” Philippians 4:6
Look around you. You have reason to worry. The sun blasts cancer-causing rays. Air vents blow lung-clotting molds. Potato chips have too many carbs. Vegetables, too many toxins. And do they have to call an airport a terminal?...
Some of us have postgraduate degrees from the University of Anxiety. We go to sleep worried that we won’t wake up; we wake up worried that we didn’t sleep. We worry that someone will discover that lettuce was fattening all along. The mother of one teenager bemoaned, “My daughter doesn’t tell me anything. I’m a nervous a wreck.” Another mother replied, “My daughter tells me everything. I’m a nervous wreck.” Wouldn’t you love to stop worrying? Could you use a strong shelter from life’s harsh elements?
God offers you just that: the possibility of a worry-free life. Not just less worry, but no worry.
Wouldn't that be awesome, never to worry! Sure would. Much love and continued prayers, K8
We Need a Savior Friday, January 18, 2008 “Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many.” Hebrews 9:28 NKJV
“You can’t forgive me for my sins nor can I forgive you for yours. Two kids in a mud puddle can’t clean each other. They need someone clean. Someone spotless. We need someone clean too.
That’s why we need a savior.
Trying to make it to heaven on our own goodness is like trying to get to the moon on a moonbeam: nice idea, but try it a see what happens.
Listen. Quit trying to quench your own guilt. You can’t do it. There’s no way. Not with a bottle of whiskey or perfect Sunday school attendance. Sorry. I don’t care how bad you are. You can’t be bad enough to forget it. And I don’t care how good you are. You can’t be good enough to overcome it. You need a Savior.
Isn't that the truth. WE all need a Savior, Thank God! We have one.
