Down Time

I am always amazed at the strength of people when tragedy calls. Is it the flow of adrenaline, the necessity of the moment, something that is inside of us that shines through? People are always saying to me that they could never handle what we are going through, that they are not that strong of a person. I tell them that they would not believe what they can handle when it involves the ones that they love, a strength that comes from depths of your soul. You don't have to get this strength, it is always there, just waiting for the times that you need it, it comes from God. It happens during earthquakes, it happens during fires, it happens during bombings of the trade center, it happens in the Intensive Care Units at hospitals. A strength that comes out in a person that no one knows is there, until it is needed. You do what you have to do, no questions, no hesitations, you just do it. If you would of asked Myles if he could of endured the all of this pain he has been through, he would of said no. I myself, if asked, if I could of handled all of this, I would of said "NO Way". But we have and are. I haven't posted in a while. My body is catching up to all of the last eight months. When you are in the "immediate response" of it all, you don't physically feel, you mentally do. Your body takes to the sidelines while your mind deals with what is being played out. BUT in the long run, your body will have to step in and tell you what you have been through, physical exertion, mental stress, insanity. It will demand that you physically feel what you have mentally gone through. Body, mind, and spirit, as it should be.

An Open Door
Tuesday, September 11, 2007
Now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away from God are brought near.
Ephesians 2:13

Nothing remains between you and God but an open door.

Something happened in the death of Christ that opened the door for you and me. And that something is described by the writer of Hebrews.

"So, brothers and sisters, we are completely free to enter the Most Holy Place without fear because of the blood of Jesus' death. We can enter through a new and living way that Jesus opened for us. It leads through the curtain–Christ's body" (Heb. 10:19-20).

To the original readers, those last four words were explosive: "the curtain–Christ's body." According to the writer, the curtain equals Jesus. Hence, whatever happened to the flesh of Jesus happened to the curtain. What happened to his flesh? It was torn. Torn by the whips, torn by the thorns. Torn by the weight of the cross and the point of the nails. But in the horror of his torn flesh, we find the splendor of the open door.

Sherry,

Hope all is well, and Myles is adjusting to school. How's his arm? We continue to pray for healing!

much love,
Kate

Good morning Ganley's,
Sherry, you are so right. God gives everyone what they need and when they need it. God only gives you what you can handle. Like we keep saying over and over,
Trust in the Lord God with all you heart and all you might and he will take care of you. When you feel you are a lone, that it is only one set of foot prints in the sand, remember that is God who is with you.

As always,
Our prayers are with you all every day.
love you
Cecelia

Too Incredible
Wednesday, September 12, 2007
“The One who comes from above is greater than all.”
John 3:31

The idea that a virgin would be selected by God to bear himself…The notion that God would don a scalp and toes and two eyes…The thought that the King of the universe would sneeze and burp and get bit by mosquitoes…It’s too incredible. Too revolutionary. We would never create such a Savior. We aren’t that daring.

When we create a redeemer, we keep him safely distant in his faraway castle. We allow him only the briefest of encounters with us. We permit him to swoop in and out with his sleigh before we can draw too near. We wouldn’t ask him to take up residence in the midst of a contaminated people. In our wildest imagination we wouldn’t conjure a king who becomes one of us.

But God did.

GOD IS GOOD . . .AND GOD IS GREAT . . . ALL the TIME!

Much love, and continued prayers.

The Lamb of God
Thursday, September 13, 2007
“At noon the whole country was covered with darkness, which lasted for three hours.”
Matthew 27:45 TEV

Of course the sky is dark; people are killing the Light of the World.

The universe grieves. God said it would. “On that day…I will make the sun go down at noon and darken the earth in broad daylight…I will make it like the mourning for an only son, and the end of it like a bitter day” (Amos 8:9-10 RSV).

The sky weeps. And a lamb bleats. Remember the time of the scream? “At about three o’clock Jesus cried out.” Three o’clock in the afternoon, the hour of the temple sacrifice. Less than a mile to the east, a finely clothed priest leads a lamb to the slaughter, unaware that his work is futile. Heaven is not looking at the lamb of man but at “the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29 RSV).

Hope all is well. School starting is keeping us all on our toes. Can't believe my Kaitlin girl is a Senior. WOW. I will treasure every moment. Much love, and continued prayers!
